Best job ever…

2 June 2011 No Comment

Some people believe that no job can feel like a vacation. This job though is literally a vacation. Believe it or not, you can be a professional beacher. Swedish Amelia’s Magazine posted a job offer a couple of weeks ago, looking for an employee willing to test beaches around the world by tanning, getting massages, drinking wine, interacting with other tourists, and overall relaxing. It doesn’t get any better than this.

The mission is to test beaches for four weeks, on four continents, on behalf of Amelia’s Magazine. The current beaches include in Corsica to be visited in summer 2011, the area around Cape Town, South Africa in autumn, and Asia in winter.

Among other common tasks of a tourist, duties include going on excursions, resting on deck chairs, drinking wine at local taverns, receiving full body massages, snorkelling, and reading books. During this time, the lucky beach bum must blog continuously for amelia.se, write four separate stories about the experiences, and of course, take photos.

The qualifications are being accustomed to moving among many people, having the capacity to rest / do nothing for long periods, being able to swim, and being responsible for your and others’ well being. Whoever gets the job must also have four weeks available during the upcoming year, with no other claim than the offered salary.

I bet you are wondering about how to apply by this point. You must write a maximum of ten sentences about why you are perfect for the job of Amelia’s beach testers. Include your name, age, hometown, mailing address and phone number. (email: Desirée Wahren, Editor in Chef Amelia, 08-7365200 at ansokan1189@amelia.se)

Don’t delay because “the response has been huge”, Asa Lundegard, Amelia’s Editor-in-chief told Swedish news site The Local. Hundreds of applications were received soon after the job was posted on the Swedish National Public Employment Service. Some people thought the offer was an early April Fool’s Day joke, but Lundegard ensures its legitimacy.

What are you waiting for? :)
